This morning, when I woke up, I felt like an adventurer and decided to discover the "cathedral of the vines".
After taking a winding country road, I arrived in Villeveyrac and saw the imposing building built in the middle of vegetation and vineyards. The closer I get to her, the more tiny I feel in front of so much greatness. I look forward to discovering what lies behind these great stone walls.
When I entered the abbey, I quickly found myself in the nave. I can't breathe a word of it. Its size, its Gothic architecture, the height of its vault create an atmosphere in this place that commands respect. And I am not at the end of my surprise: all along the aisles of the nave there are wine casks, sort of large barrels of several hundred hectolitres. I then understand that the history of the abbey is intimately linked to that of the vines I saw when I arrived.
My visit then takes me to a cloister with four galleries, where light enters from the abbey garden. I walk a few more meters and find myself facing a small wonder, a magnificent fountain overhung by an open dome, where vines climb. I decide to sit down for a moment to enjoy the beauty and tranquility that reigns in this place.
I then end my journey with a tasting of the abbey's wines, where I learn that the vineyard, created by the Romans and then managed by Cistercian monks, is now run by the family. A beautiful anecdote that I will not fail to tell my friends at our next meal, by opening a bottle that will remind me of my holidays in the sun!
As I leave the abbey to find my car, I can't help but look at the map of the farmhouse, located just a few metres from the monument. I can't wait to taste it... All the products are fresh and cooked on the spot, with seasonal, farm and local ingredients. And to top it all off, delicious scents come out of the kitchen. After all, I hadn't planned anything for lunch, why not let me try it?

Closed on Mondays, except Mondays in July, August and September.
From October 1st to April 15th
Visits to the abbey and opening of the cellar: from Tuesday to Saturday from 2pm to 6pm.
Sundays, public holidays and holidays: from 10am to 6pm (closed on Sunday mornings in January).
Closed on Monday.

Open every lunchtime (except Monday).
In July and August, opening during cultural evenings and Friday evenings.
