Expériences

Today, I'm off to the Bagnas reserve with my little family for a break in the middle of nature! Among the guided tours offered by the Reserve House, we have opted for bird watching at sunset. We are warmly welcomed by a passionate and exciting guide, who is very educational with children. It's not a bad start! He provides us with binoculars and long sights, allowing us to see wonderful birds (egrets, herons, and flamingos) in great detail, all in a peaceful and green setting! This excursion was also an opportunity to discover more surprising animals, such as turtles, but also many plant species. To our great surprise, our teenagers had a great time, and took advantage of it to take beautiful pictures that will allow us to remember this precious moment when we are four back ...

I wanted to do a different kind of water activity, something out of the ordinary. Why not a "paddle muscat" outing in Frontignan? I'll jump at the chance and call the Tiki Center. I'm told that there's room for July 19th and that I have to pay for my paddle reservation at the tourist office shop. That's perfect. At 7pm, I meet a group of 12 people on the parking lot of the Frontignan-Plage windsurfers' roundabout. After a quick lesson on dry land and an awareness of the fragility of the seabed, we can sail. So we set off for an hour and a half of paddle on the Ingril pond. We sail calmly towards the canal from the Rhône to Sète, but I still find it difficult to stand upright all the time... It's not easy to balance on these boards! On the other hand on my knees, it's muc...

Today, I indulge myself and offer myself a shellfish tasting, facing the lagoon. We're not going to lie to each other... If I came to spend a holiday in the Thau Archipelago, it's not just to laze in the sun! Epicurean at heart, I especially want to taste all the local specialities, especially the famous shellfish from the Thau lagoon. No time to waste! I'm heading for the north of the lagoon, between Bouzigues and Loupian, where producers offer tastings at their production site, the shellfish farms. Once there, I am immediately in the mood. Objectives: pleasure and relaxation. And the setting is perfect for it. I sit at a table on a wooden terrace, facing the deep blue of the lagoon, with an extraordinary view of the oyster beds and Sète in the background. I feel lik...
Knowing our destination also means discovering the history of the products of our region. Focus on a local aperitif: muscat! A Mediterranean grape variety, well adapted to the climate Muscat is a typically Mediterranean grape variety, originating from Greece, planted in France with the first Phocaean colonies established in Marseille. If four types of muscat are cultivated in France, it is the white muscat with small grains that makes the reputation of the destination Sète Archipel de Thau. An aromatic explosion A well vinified muscat brings that musky and wild smell typical of this beverage that smells like a holiday. It is both a slightly animal expression, of rosewood and lychee with fruity notes of orange, exotic and floral fruits (jasmine, lemongrass, verbena). In ...

The ideal weather for a family day in Sète. First stop: the Museum of the sea, to help our daughter discover the history of the city, deeply linked to its maritime heritage. Then we take a walk on the docks. The façades are colourful, the water smells like iodized water, you'd think you were somewhere else, thousands of kilometres away from home.  We admire the trawlers, the boats with the charm of yesteryear, and we observe fish swimming in the canal. Impossible to resist all the restaurants with their lively terraces from which laughter escapes from all sides. The opportunity to taste a delicious cuttlefis...

This morning, when I woke up, I felt like an adventurer and decided to discover the "cathedral of the vines". After taking a winding country road, I arrived in Villeveyrac and saw the imposing building built in the middle of vegetation and vineyards. The closer I get to her, the more tiny I feel in front of so much greatness. I look forward to discovering what lies behind these great stone walls. When I entered the abbey, I quickly found myself in the nave. I can't breathe a word of it. Its size, its Gothic architecture, the height of its vault create an atmosphere in this place that commands respect. And I am not at the end of my surprise: all along the aisles of the nave there are wine casks, sort of large barrels of several hundred hectolitres. I then understand that the ...
In Sète, we live with the elements, and in particular with water, that lifts you up and takes you away Enclaved between the Mediterranean and the Thau Lagoon, the singular island lives to the rhythm of the water. On the water, in ULM, hobie cat or sea kayak; underwater, diving to discover Lagunethe coves of Sète; above the water, in ULM, parachute or kite surfing. But Sète is not only the song of the waves, it is also the many festivals that punctuate the summer season, such as the Worldwide Festival, or the evenings spent strolling in beach bars....
Ideal place for a break in nature, Frontignan will offer you a new breath! We have booked for our weekend a guest room in the Frontignan beach area. Welcomed in this pretty apartment by the sea, we enjoy an evening of picnicking on the sand. An awakening to the sound of the waves, we saw that sports classes on the beach are offered. So we will take advantage of a Yoga session to start the day off right.  Then to a beach restaurant, it's the opportunity to eat fresh fish! From there we rent bicycles, we have been told about the Muscat Festival, and we intend to discover this "muscat petit grains" grape variety wine that makes the city's reputation. Head for the city centre to discover this famous muscat and the other wines of the region. We take our tasting tickets and o...

A cultural life, with the Chapelle du Quartier Haut, the MIAM or the Espace Brassens. A lively culture also, from the Pointe-Courte fishermen's quarter to the Halles centrales, where you can taste tielles and shellfish, without forgetting the daily ball of the trawlers returning to the port. A nocturnal culture too, with the fairy tale of the canals at night or the Théâtre de la Mer and its magical scene. More than a view, a vision....

After a nice walk on the Canal du Midi, a short break in Marseillan where I decided to visit the Noilly Prat House. I want to know more about this vermouth, made here for more than 200 years, and why not, taste this famous drink! A recipe with a well-kept secret The guided tour begins with the discovery of a cellar, where huge oak tuns are placed on each side, giving this area a very special atmosphere. I learned that Noilly Prat is a vermouth, produced from white wine and a secretly kept mixture of aromatic plants such as chamomile and coriander. There are also bitter orange peels and nutmeg. Our guide makes us smell a glass of the mixture... hurry the tasting! An ancestral know-how We continue our journey outdoors, where barrels are stored as far as the eye can see, in an ...
Tribute to the missing sailors and fishermen. Discovering Sète's traditions Sunday morning. I enjoy a coffee on the terrace, in a small bar near the market of Les Halles, when I am challenged by excitement and music. Curious, I let myself be guided by the noise and came face to face with a procession led by a marching band. Is it one of those parades that precede the jousting tournaments, as I was told by friends who came to Sète last summer on holiday? To be sure, I decide to call someone when my eyes meet those of a lady of a certain age with a benevolent look. She tells me that today is St. Peter's Day, the patron saint of fishermen. The next stop of this great celebration takes place in the church of Saint Louis which, according to him, is worth a visit. I let myse...
During her visit to the Thau Archipelago, Madi fell under the spell of Sète Admittedly, at first sight, Sète probably does not appear to be a cultural city, yet a lot is happening there. It is a city with a strong history and is dynamic. Fans of architecture and urban planning will be interested in the history of this city born at the same time as the Canal du Midi. The summer season offers a lot of possibilities, between song or jazz festivals in particular. The sea theatre where some of the concerts are held overlooks the water and must offer a breathtaking view. Not to mention, of course, George Brassens, who sang so much about his city, which now devotes a very beautiful space to him, which I enjoyed visiting a few years ago.But Sète is also a museum of modest arts w...
Move to the rhythm of musical festivals in the Thau Archipelago! From French music to rap, jazz and world music, let yourself be carried away by the highlights of a resolutely dynamic and cultural destination! In the Thau Archipelago, summer begins at the same time as "K-Live", the festival of urban cultures that takes over the Théâtre de la Mer but also the city. A multidisciplinary festival, it combines urban arts, visual arts and concerts of contemporary music. See you in early June! The festivities continue with "Quand je pense à Fernande", at the end of June, the festival for lovers of French song. As for electronic music, don't miss the "Worldwide Festival" at the beginning of July. During the day, enjoy free access sets on the beach, and in the evening, head f...
Summer vacation with friends is clearly the best time of the year. No schedules, no strings attached, just cool sharing time. When I booked the summer holidays for our group of friends, I already had a few criteria in mind, set during our last evenings: a trip that didn't make us waste too much time, a festival with a good program, the beach to recover from our evenings. And I had the perfect plan: the Thau archipelago. After a few hours on the train, we disembark in Sète and put down our stuff. Just enough time to change our clothes, and here we go for an afternoon on the beach, which will finally turn into an aperitif in a straw hut.  After a short stop in our rental for a small shower, direction the city center and its lively terraces to eat a bite to eat. We find ours...

This morning, direction Frontignan-Plage for a walk along the ponds to contemplate the ballet of the birds. I learned at the tourist office that many species gravitate there all year round (more than 130) and that the spectacle is breathtaking, especially in spring, during the migratory period. The ideal is to go there early in the morning at sunrise, the colours on the pond and the shadows of the pink flamingos plunge you into a special atmosphere. But first of all, what is birdwatching? It is a new tourist activity that comes to us from our English neighbours who are very fond of nature, fauna and flora. In France, we call it "birdwatching". It is a photographic hike which will also delight those who love beautiful pictures. I've been doing it for a few years now, and I'm ...
